Natural Treatment For Heartburn And Acid Reflux

papaya enzyme01

It never ceases to amaze me, the amount of information available on the internet. I have quite a few blogs that I "follow" and I am always stumbling across posts that are helpful in my everyday life. My husband suffers from heartburn quite frequently and I suffer from acid reflux - something that started when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter and just never went away. For me, it had gotten to the point that even OTC medications were not helping. So when I came across this post from Sidetracked Sarah, about treating heartburn with papaya enzyme, I knew this was something worth trying. I am always seeking out natural treatments, so I was ecstatic to read this post. I am happy to … [Read more...]

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia Seeds

chia seeds

Yes, these are the same seeds found on the Chia Pets. But, please don't eat your Chia Pets! :P I love these little chia seeds. I know, that sounds pretty weird. But when you add them to overnight oats or to smoothies, they take on this kind of chewy consistency. Anyway, ever since I posted about quinoa awhile back, I've been wanting to do a post about these awesome little seeds. If you haven't tried them, you should. Here's why... Facts and Nutritional Benefits of Chia Seeds High in soluble fiber High in Omega-3 fatty acids (ounce per ounce, more than salmon!) Great source of protein More antioxidants than blueberries and more calcium than milk Chia seeds contain more … [Read more...]

Farmers Market Trip: Moundridge & Hutchinson {6/23}

hutchinson farmers market

Whew! It's been a busy day already! We made it to the Moundridge farmers' market a little before 8:00 this morning. Which is rare for us, since we usually sleep as long as we can on Saturday mornings! Got some great produce and fresh herbs. I will tell you that my husband already has big plans for this fresh mint - probably in the form of some homemade mint mojitos. :P The kids and I wanted to take my husband and father-in-law to breakfast as a late Father's Day treat, so we headed to Hutch. Since we were going to be in town anyway, we decided to hit the farmers' market. So glad we did! Every year I look forward to the produce at Polk's in Medora, so I was ecstatic to … [Read more...]

{Recipe} Homemade Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Pops

homemade blueberry cheesecake ice pops

I've been craving cheesecake lately. Any kind of cheesecake. Blueberries just happened to be handy, so we just went with that. Mmm...these were so creamy and delicious! I will definitely be trying these with strawberries soon. Or cherries. Oh, the possibilities... I came across this site awhile back, called Calorie Count. You put in the ingredients and the number of servings and it calculates the nutritional facts for you. Pretty cool, right?! I decided to give it a whirl on these yummy homemade treats and this is what it gave me (for 8 servings): They are low sugar and low fat. That works for me! I didn't use much sugar, but you could add more to suit your own taste. Enjoy. :) … [Read more...]
