I don’t know about other places, but where we live summer break lasts about 3 1/2 months. I love my kids dearly. I do. But, when it’s over 100 degrees every single day for weeks on end, I start wishing school was back in session. Because when we’re stuck in a house all day, trying to beat the heat, we tend go stir-crazy after awhile.
Anyway, I came across this post from Wendolonia recently and it got me thinking about how much I need to make summertime as fun as possible for my kids. So, the kids and I sat down and brainstormed about things that we would love to do this summer – crafts, cooking, places to go – and came up with our own “Summer To-Do List”.
There are so many activities and crafts that we can do without breaking the bank. Which, if you know me at all, is always a priority.
Since my kids don’t start school until the first week of September, we still have plenty of time to get some things done. We have already completed two items on the list, so those are marked off. Yay!
We did some canvas art, which I will share with you in another post. We also snuck out one morning, while it was still cool outside (and by “cool”, I mean anything under 90 degrees), and washed the truck.
The kids had a blast taking turns with the hose and “accidentally” spraying me in the face at least once.
I am hoping that this list will become a summer tradition at our house. It’s fun to have things to look forward to and to see what we have accomplished so far.
We thought up some ideas on our own, but we also got a lot of inspiration from Wendolonia, Family Your Way and That’s So Cuegly. If you’re looking for some fun activities, you should check out these sites!
What are some fun ways that you are staying busy this summer??

Great idea! Hey how are you keeping your grass so green? Today was nice wasn’t it? Under 100!
Thanks! Funny that you mention about the grass – my mom said the EXACT same thing! Actually, we are just a little late getting this posted. The photo is actually a few weeks old. What can I say? It’s been a busy last few weeks!
