We’re In For a Wild Ride This Year…

summer funThis photo was obviously taken at the beginning of summer, when everything had color!

Where we live, we have one week left until school starts. Yay!

I think we’re prepared. Backpacks are filled with school supplies. School wardrobes have been replenished (with the exception of shoes…that’s next on my list). We are steadily working on completing our 2012 Summer To-Do List.

I’m really excited about school starting, as it’s good for both the kids and I to get back to a regular routine. Plus, this year will bring a lot of new extracurricular activities for my kiddos. I’m looking forward to seeing them branch out and try new things.

I am one of those people that embraces change. Today I was thinking about how excited I am for this year and all that it brings. And then it hit me… Wow! We will have so much going on! Yeah, I’m weird – I’m excited about this. Maybe I’ve just been trapped in this house too long over the summer. Maybe it’s that I never had much going on in school, since we moved all the time, so I want my kids to have the chance to do all sorts of stuff. Who knows?!

Anyway, this year brings a new challenge for our family. See, my girls are only one year apart in school (20 months apart in age). For the past couple of years they have been on the same soccer team and only one of them have played basketball at a time. This has been really nice, since they both played at the same time and in the same location.

Enter: Little D, who will also be playing soccer this year. Yes, all three of my kids will be on different soccer teams. This should be…interesting!

Oh, and – in addition to three kids playing soccer – both girls will have weekly piano lessons, Noodle will be playing a musical instrument in school this year, Little D will be in Cub Scouts and both girls are planning on joining the Girl Scouts. Add to that all of the “normal” school stuff, like music programs and field trips.

I can’t wait! :)

What are you looking forward to this school year??
