Health Food Store Finds {7/21}

health food finds

We made a trip to town this afternoon, to purchase some supplies for our upcoming bathroom remodel. Seven hours and five stores later - including a trip to one of my favorite health food stores (GreenAcres Market) :) - we arrived home. We're all tired and ready for bed. Shopping is exhausting! Anyway, here's what I picked up at the health food store:   I will be making homemade granola, then mixing the bulk ingredients into it, for a homemade snack mix. I got the rolled oats for the granola really cheap - almost free actually, using my Amazon gift cards from Swagbucks - and the bulk ingredients only cost $7.61. This should make for a pretty inexpensive, more … [Read more...]

Natural & Organic Products: Three Easy Ways To Save

natural organic2

First, let me say that I am by no means a hard-core fanatic when it comes to buying natural and organic products (for example, I don't need organic cotton hand towels (no offense to anyone that has these!)). However, I do try to buy as much as I can - especially in the way of produce, dairy, meats and grains. … [Read more...]

Holy Guacamole! {Organic Avocados for $.79!}

avocados

You can always tell a native Californian by their love of avocados. ;) Growing up, my mom and I would cut these open, remove the pit, salt the avocado and eat them with a spoon. Funny story. When I worked here in town, I took an avocado to work one day for my snack. I sliced it open, spooned it out and my boss said, "Um...what IS that?". Ha! I couldn't believe that he didn't know what it was, since it was so familiar to me. … [Read more...]

A Day Full of Shopping, Walking and Yummy Salad

I love shopping! <Translation: I love shopping when my kids are in school and I can park my truck on Main Street and walk around to whichever stores I want, without having to tote three very bored and needy children with me. ;)> I had a great day today, getting in some much needed walking and shopping. I picked up some clothing items from the Newton Et Cetera Shop, which I will be using for a super secret craft project/Christmas gift that I am working on. (By the way, on Saturday, Dec. 17th ALL clothing and Christmas items are 50% off at Et Cetera).  I also stopped by Kitchen Corner, which I love. They have some really neat stuff and the employees are always helpful and super … [Read more...]

4 Reasons Why You Should Shop At Health Food Stores

If you have never been to a health food store, I highly recommend that you give it a try. I used to only associate health food stores with vitamins and supplements and those sorts of things, which they do have...but they also have tons of other stuff - cleaning products, pet food and supplies, produce, a dairy section and lots of other common groceries. Here are some really great reasons to give health food stores a try: The items in these stores are selected because they contain healthier ingredients, so it's easier to find products that you can feel good about consuming or using. They have a large bulk section, where you can buy rice, grains, candy, sugar, herbs, spices and tons of … [Read more...]

Health Store Finds: Cheap Bagels, Canning & More!

food for thought

Now that the kids are back in school, I am remembering how nice it is to be able to go shopping during the day and spend as much time in a store as I want. No having to take kids to go potty or having to say "No, I am not buying (insert product title here)" a gazillion times! I don't make it to Wichita as often as I'd like these days, so when I do it's always fun getting to go to all of my favorite stores. And I get to have lunch with my hubby :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Today's shopping trip involved going to Food For Thought, which I had never been to before. It's part health food store and part kitchen/gift shop. They had so many cool … [Read more...]
