End-of-Summer Fun

great wolf lodge

Yes, I realize that we technically still have another month of summer left. But when school starts, it always feels like the end of summer for me. Anyone else feel like this? Since our family didn't really take a vacation this year, my husband and I decided to take a fun weekend trip to end summer break. We just got back from spending a couple of days in Kansas City, where we went to Great Wolf Lodge and spent some quality time with family that we don't get to see often enough. Mike and I have actually talked about going to Great Wolf Lodge for a couple of years now, but since our kids took swim lessons this summer, this seemed like a perfect time to test out their new swimming … [Read more...]

Eleven Wonderful Years…

anniversary11

It's a special day in our household. My husband, Mike, and I are celebrating our 11 year wedding anniversary. :) I wanted to pay tribute to a man who has become not only the most wonderful friend I have ever known, but a terrific father and provider for our family. I thank God every day for the life that I have. While it's not perfect - it's perfect for me. I'm a lucky gal - this man comes home from a long day at work and doesn't hesitate to wash dishes, do some laundry, sweep the floors, etc. Yep, I think I'll keep him. … [Read more...]

Happy Mother’s Day!!

avengers trip (03)

“My mom is a neverending song in my heart of comfort, happiness, and being.  I may sometimes forget the words but I always remember the tune.” ~Graycie Harmon I wanted to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all of you women out there who care for children and influence their lives. Don't forget about your grandmothers, aunts and girlfriends. For me, these women have had a huge impact on my life and who I am today. Have a fabulous day! My husband took me out for dinner and a movie last night - my early Mother's Day gift. We don't often get a chance to hang out without the kids, so it was a nice treat. Of course, that means that today I will spend cleaning house and running errands - like … [Read more...]

Hello, Portland!

IMAG0414

Last week I had the fantastic opportunity to fly to Portland to see some of my family. This trip was highly motivated by the fact that my little sister (she's 20 now and she's taller than me, but she'll always be my "little" sister :)) had her first baby a few weeks ago - my niece, Kerrigan Jane. I really enjoy travelling, but this was the first time I have traveled alone in almost 8 years. I had a wonderful time visiting and spending some much needed time with family, but I must say it is always really nice to get back home to my own bed (and to my hubby and kiddos)! My flights went smoothly and were fairly uneventful, with the exception of the Denver airport being almost all of the … [Read more...]

It’s a Bird. It’s a Plane. It’s…

kites1

If you're looking for a really inexpensive way to spend fun time with your kiddos - or other adults. Seriously.  Kites rock! - go buy some kites! I found some at Walmart for $1.27 each and I'm sure they probably also have some at your local dollar store. I loved flying kites as a kid and these are exactly like what I remember. … [Read more...]

Sometimes I Feel Like a Nut…

spaceystacey

Remember these?! This is how I feel sometimes... :P Come on...I know that I am not the only one who does this... I got my kids all tucked into bed and finally got a chance to clean up my kitchen. After that was done I realized that I hadn't swept the dining room floor after dinner. So I grabbed the broom and dust pan. But before I could sweep the floor, I needed to put the shoes away that were sitting in my way. So I went to put the shoes away. But when I went to put the shoes away, I realized that the shoe container was way too full. So I decided that I should take out some of them (ones we don't wear very often anymore) and put them in our closet. So I went to put them in our … [Read more...]

A Day Full of Shopping, Walking and Yummy Salad

health food 12-15-11

I love shopping! <Translation: I love shopping when my kids are in school and I can park my truck on Main Street and walk around to whichever stores I want, without having to tote three very bored and needy children with me. ;)> I had a great day today, getting in some much needed walking and shopping. I picked up some clothing items from the Newton Et Cetera Shop, which I will be using for a super secret craft project/Christmas gift that I am working on. (By the way, on Saturday, Dec. 17th ALL clothing and Christmas items are 50% off at Et Cetera).  I also stopped by Kitchen Corner, which I love. They have some really neat stuff and the employees are always helpful and super … [Read more...]

Fun Holiday Memories

holiday memories (2)

Tonight my husband and I rounded up our little rascals and surprised them with homemade hot cocoa and a trip around town to look at Christmas lights and decorations. :) I love these fun little spontaneous adventures. I want my kids to grow up and remember all of the fun things that we did during the holidays. … [Read more...]
